This is one of those books that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. The writing puts you on the bridge with Lena and Corporal Ray Raycevic. The setting and atmosphere are perfect! It’s pretty gruesome and violent. There are a ton of twists and turns that you will not see coming. It’s a get down and dirty fight and you will be screaming the whole time. It’s a heart pounding blood bath. Like I said gruesome is the word that keeps coming to mind. This author doesn’t hold back on the details. Lena is determined to find out what really happened to her twin sister Cambry and she is one tough cookie. I love Lena! Even though Lena and Cambry had not been close in years the twins still shared a bond that twins have which led Lena to “know” she didn’t commit suicide. I will warn you it can be a little confusing at times because Cambry’s point of view is really what Lena thinks happened. Which isn’t necessarily the case. It’s still an easy five star read and this author is fast becoming one of my favorites.

I have thought for quite some time that I had read this book. It wasn’t until someone gave me the prequel that I discovered I had not read it. I have no clue how I decided I had read it but I ran to the library and grabbed it so now it has been read. It’s a definite slow burn. There were times I wanted things to hurry up but overall I enjoyed the detail and the build up. It’s not a surprise or a twist what happens which is why I only gave it 4 stars. I couldn’t wait for Amber to learn her lesson and get what she deserved. The author did a really good job of evoking emotion because I wanted to throat punch Jackson. It’s for sure a book about the grass is not always greener or you never know what goes on behind closed doors. I found it really interesting that Liv Constantine is the pen name of sisters Lynne Constantine and Valerie Constantine. They are separated by three states plotting their books via FaceTime and emails.

This book is so so so good! There are so many jaw dropping moments! Things I never seen coming. I flew straight through this book and was mad when I couldn’t read. It’s told from multiple POV’s including Tom which was great. And while there are multiple characters it’s very easy to keep up with. I had a whole list of mic drops and the twists just kept coming. I loved the setting and the atmosphere of The Manor House and The Glass Barn. This story held a whole bunch of secrets that were slowly revealed and I wrote in my notes several times “are you kidding me!?!?” It’s a gripping tale with an unexpected ending. A perfect read if you want a fast paced psychological thriller!

Who would have thought I would love a book about tennis?!? Or for that matter a music group. I love this author! This book is just as much about Javier Soto than Carrie. I loved him and I loved to hate Carrie. She’s cocky, a terrible loser, probably a terrible person but gosh I adored her. I would totally want to be her friend if this was real life. Taylor Jenkins Reid can do no wrong with her books lately! This book, The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones & The Six are all phenomenal books. Carrie Soto will be a movie with Reid as executive producer. Casting Carrie will be vital to the success of this movie. As I finished the book last night my heart was pounding as if I was watching a tennis match on TV. You will feel every high and low in this book and there are a ton of emotions. It is an unforgettable story and I keep forgetting it’s not a true story. I’m not an athlete by any means but I have ran several marathons and half-marathons. At 47 thanks to menopause I have slowed down. I felt her drive for wanting to come out of retirement at 37 to reclaim her record. I wouldn’t want it taken from me. I usually read other reviews of books I truly love and I read one review that said there was too much tennis in this book…..a book about tennis. I disagree. I enjoyed all the tennis talk and the sportscasters commentary. It’s what made it build to the end competition. Did she win or did she lose? You’ll have to read it to find out.

This is the second book in the Amazon Original Stories series We Could Be Heroes. It’s a darkly inquisitive collection of short stories that examines heroic intentions versus their real-life consequences. This story is a story within a story. Charlie works at a crisis center and as her shift is ending she takes one more call. This caller is making things personal for Charlie. The side story is about Lanie and Chloe and navigating the teenage years. The takeaway from this short is social media is a liar. It’s easier to see that as adults but teenagers don’t see that. And I realize there are some adults that don’t as well. We are only seeing the parts of lives that people want us to see.

This is the first book in the Amazon Original Stories series. It consists of five Kindle short stories about ordinary people. It asks the question how do you know whether a real world situation calls for a storybook hero. This is a great story about a neighborhood standing up for their youth and banding together to drive out the bad guys. It’s the longest of all the stories at 75 pages. Spoiler alert I love all five of these stories and highly recommend reading them. You can read them for free if you’re an Amazon Prime member.

This is the third book in the Amazon Original Stories series We Could Be Heroes. It’s a darkly inquisitive collection of short stories that examines heroic intentions versus their real-life consequences. I really felt this one. I think we all have kids that we would love to see our kids not hang around for fear of a bad influence. This short story….and it’s the shortest at 35 pages brings out a ton of emotions toward a 10 year old girl. I was ready to strangle Sylvie. You could feel the meanness coming out of this kid! I think it also teaches that sometimes you just need to mind ya business. Just don’t get involved.

I love Lisa Unger. This is a novella and a great little quick read. It provides just enough information to give you a good who-done-it but not overload you with too much description to weigh you down. I gave it four stars because I feel like it’s pretty easy to guess who the killer is. And if anyone can tell me who shot Harley that would be awesome! I feel like I know but I am positive after it happens no one ever tells who did it. There aren’t too many twists or jaw dropping moments but I was invested in these characters and didn’t want to put it down. This may seem corny but I wish I had read it during winter and around Christmas. Goofy I know but it definitely gave out winter vibes and I’m sitting in 90 degree weather. It’s a cozy read for me. I don’t feel cozy in the summer.

This was a hard book for me. In case you’re late to the game I said at the beginning of the year I was going to read all of Reece’s Book Club book of the month picks. So this is not a book I would normally choose. That said I gave it four stars because it is a very cute story. It held my attention for the most part and I really really liked Cassandra. I got a little bored and sped read during a couple chapters but it’s hard for me if someone is not dying… The author did a great job making all the characters relatable and likable. Well maybe Cassie is so unlikeable she’s likable. She has hissy fits. Do you know how many hissy fits I’ve thrown? A lot. Also, Cassandra Penelope Dankworth has autism. I don’t feel like this is a spoiler because it’s obvious yet she doesn’t find out until the end of the book. There are so many hilarious moments in this book. The emails between her and her boss were laugh out loud funny to me. Every time she doesn’t like how something is going she time travels and does an “undo.” And it might be 10 times until she gets it right. Wouldn’t we all? The only thing I didn’t care was the Green mythology. But it’s there for a purpose. Again this is a cute fun read and would be great to take on vacation. I just require dark, death and twisty thrillers.

I really enjoy Darby Kane books. I’ve read Pretty Little Wife and The Replacement Wife and liked them both. But this book was another one that has way too many characters. I just have a hard time keeping up with a dozen story lines but the plot on this one kept me hooked. I’m not sure I ever kept Alex and Will straight but I worked it out. What I did enjoy was how no one seemed to be fooling anyone. I like that everyone suspects the others for what they are really up to! Obviously there are some twists but no one seems to be fooled in the book. That was refreshing. I loved Sierra and hated Cassie. Despite there being too many characters there was nice character development to the point you felt strong emotions toward each one. What I didn’t enjoy was the ending. Like what? I wish it had went in a different direction and it came out of no where.  And I’m not trying to give a spoiler but if I’m ever on a deserted island and there are 6 to 1 I’m not letting the “killer” make me zip tie my hands together. I’ll take my chances.
