Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

★★★★.5 rounded up!
Falling in love with Nathan Hawkins was not something I could have planned.
No planner, iPad, or freaking sticker chart could have prepared me for my future.
My imagination isn’t capable of dreaming up this level of happiness.
I was really hesitant to start this book because it seemed really mainstream and I thought it would heavily center around skating and hockey but that wasn't the case! As soon as I finally drew the connection between 'The Cutting Edge' (once of my fav movies btw) and 'Icebreaker', I caved and started it. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. I LOVED IT!!!
I fell in love with the characters, especially Nathan. He made my heart and stomach twirl and ache the entire book. He was a MONSTER in bed but what I loved most about him was that he was so attentive in vulnerable situations. A walking green flag.
It took me a while to finally grow fond of Anastasia. Her character development was one of my favorite things about the book. By the end of the book, I love her so much.
I love her and Nates love so much. I want it. In fact, I want my own Nathan Hawkins.
The spice was insane. Like my jaw was ON THE FLOOR WHENEVER THERE WERE SPICY SCENES. Probably my most spicy read to date but I am sure that will change soon.
I love this book and I will absolutely be reading all the other books in the Maple Hills series. I can't wait to read Wildfire!
One thing I take away from this is that I SHOULD PROBABLY STOP LISTENING TO BOOKTOK. I couldn't have been more wrong about this one, she is a GOLDIE!
I also hope Aaron slips trying to land one of his jumps and breaks his ankle and his tailbone.

I saw so many of my mutuals talking about this series on twitter. (I think the last book came out) And I decided to check it out!
I had no idea what this was about going in and I was surprised to see that it involved COWBOYS? Also it took me at least 30% in the book to realize that Rhett was a professional bull rider, not a professional MECHANICAL bull rider. I forgot riding actual real live bulls were a thing. I would have finished this a lot faster but the final book in this one trilogy just came out, so I had to put her on a momentary pause.
I absolutely loved Summer in this! I knew I was going to love her when she kept gaving subtle hints about what happened to her as a child. And Rhett? ...Wow... "You wear the hat, you ride the cowboy." I gasped reading that at the dinner table. Never imagined I would fall for a bull-riding cowboy, but never say never.
I can't wait to read all the books in the Chestnut Springs series! Elsie Silver is working her way up my fav authors list!
“If this were my last moment alive, how would I want it to be?”

I enjoyed this book a lot. I've never been one that liked volleyball but this book has convinced me differently. It felt like things were going a bit too fast at times but I still binged the heck out of it. And I love Cameron FIelds so much? I see a lot of myself in him at times.
And the spice is so crazy?
Aurora's character development was so sweet to witness. She worked extra hard to make it to Team USA for her mother, and just by meeting Cameron, he showed her a lot about herself she didn't know. Along the way, she was not only working towards Team USA for her mom, but also for herself. And that makes me cry.
It did feel a bit wattpad-y to me but I am not a difficult person to please so I loved it past that tiny flaw.

Thanks to Ally Williams, I was able to receive an ARC for her debut novel!
CONTENT WARNINGS: Explicit sexual content, foul language, a parent with advanced dementia, and the sexual assault of a side character.
I loved this book, it was such a fun time! I especially find books that focus on the MCs jobs to be very interesting, even though I don’t understand the half of it.
And oh my god, the bows! I was kicking my feet when he first picked up her bow and then returned it to her later. And then he continued to buy her more bows? AWWWEEEEE
I enjoyed how realistic the MCs were, both flawed but refreshing to say the least. Although, when Charlie first made his proposal, he gave me the ICK! But I can put it aside for the sake of him just being a book boyfriend (if this happened to me irl, I would grab my pepper spray and start running) c:
One of my favorite things about this book is how it focused on the friends-with-benefits aspect. It didn’t rely solely on the benefits part, but more on the friends part. They actually confided in each other about things in their daily lives (like friends actually do). I adored that about Charlie and Annabel. Although I will not lie, I would have loved more detailed spice (coming from a girlie who loves some chemistry)
It was a nice, cozy slice of life read. I was empathizing with all the characters (minus Layla–out the window) and it broke my heart to read about Charlie’s mom.
I enjoyed this book and will for sure be tuning in to the rest of the series c;

An Artist's Dream by Kacey Sophia, Kacey Sophia

★★★
Thanks to Kacey Sophia, I was very fortunate to receive an ARC copy of her debut novella An Artist’s Dream.
I am a simple gal: give me a book with a lilac/lavender cover and I AM SOLD!
I knew this was going to be a fast read, I just wasn’t ready for HOW FAST! It felt a little slow in pace at the beginning that I wondered how much ground we were going to cover by the end of the book. To my surprise, we covered A LOT!
I liked the overall setup and vibe of this book, though I would have liked it to be a bit more slow. Despite this book being a novella, I felt the relationship between the two MCs was very rushed. The writing was very promising and I zoomed through it. I would’ve loved if things were a bit slower and we’re able to witness the MCs chemistry develop in more detail, regardless of how much time they actually spent together.
It does end in sort of a cliffhanger. The last page is set up perfectly for a sequel and I would not mind reading it in the future when it releases! I am very curious to see where the story goes and how all of the events following the ending unfold because I fear it will emotionally damage me c’:
Also! the nickname the MMC has for the FMC is ‘Puss’, and I know if I were Kaia, that name alone would land him with a kick to his bawls

absolutely hated the protagonist. he is so unlikable.he's got the ugliest name ever. like how do u willingly name your own child 'leeds gabriel' absolutely not. red flag it felt so wrong reading this. i felt so dirty and uncomfortable. it goes against everything i believe in. this book is so morally incorrect. that being said, i couldn't put it down. i was pulled in from the very deranged first sentence.
even if everything is justifiable towards the end, there was still a moral line that was crossed.
i salute you, layla. if i were you, i would have thrown the whole man away, out into the atlantic ocean.

but i mean... it's kinda sophisticated how their love was able to transcend entirely different realms.

this book was so refreshing and fun and a light thing to read when my entire year was full of reading fiction!
i learned many things that i did not know about coffeei am a very avid coffee drinker in a way, this book poetically romanticizes coffee. after reading it, my mind can only wander and sentimentalize the influence coffee has made on the world, and on individuals as well.
there's also RECIPES for different types of coffee that aren't too complicated. i want to try one out in the near future. did i mention there's alcoholic coffee recipes?
