This was fine. I was kind of bored, and then it felt anticlimactic to not find out who the bad guy was. Maybe it’s setting up a big bad for the whole series?

This was a very fun read! I liked Olivia particularly. She was just a really smart, capable character and that was really refreshing. I liked her and thel’s interactions, tho I wished we had gotten to know him more before all the convergence stuff. I was also thrown off by how colloquially vin spoke. I know they made the off handed comment about the translators knowing cultural references and sayings and being able to translate meaning not just words. But vin’s informal bro talk was jarring to me, though I liked his character a lot

Is it because I’m in a book slump? Maybe, I don’t know. I tried liking this book. The premise seemed fun, and I like a good orc book. But the writing didn’t have any finesse. The editing was not good. There were a lot of times where I was pretty sure the author was using words in incorrect ways. The characters were not very interesting. I was going to try to stick around for them to have sex, but then he claimed her without her consent and I was out

We get it, he’s big! If I had to hear another description about how his thighs were barely contained in his pants… 😵💫 I think this could probably be a 200 page book if you took out all the times she made a comment about his size.

Very cute. I feel like I know a lot more about British politics than I did before 😂 The banter was really good, and Harry’s speech at the end was perfect. The story might have been a little too drawn out for me, but thinking back, I’m not sure what should have been cut. I liked that even though it was dual POV, the reader still found out secrets from their past when they chose to reveal them to each other, rather than being in their heads and knowing from their internal monologues all of these things that they’re keeping from each other

I was looking forward to cross’s story, and while I wished it was something more, it was still a sweet story. I think it felt a little too easy for cross to figure things out. Like, yeah in the beginning of the story, he was in a bad place, but as soon as he accepted Alex’s help, things got much better very quickly. I also felt like cross maybe wasn’t that interesting? Or maybe neither were that interesting? I feel like even their “scenes” didn’t have a lot of chemistry. I’m not sure. It didn’t grab be as much as the first two did
Out of the Wild Night by Marina Vivancos

The way Marina Vivancos writes such nuance in relationship, both healthy and harmful relationships, is so special. Oh sweet Mason. The beginning of the book that describes his relationship with his mom and her abusers, and then how he falls into the abusive relationship with Ben, it ripped my heart out. I feel like I’m a more empathetic person after reading this book. I loved how mason said something when he thought Roman was in an abusive relationship because he wished someone had said something to stand up for mason. The friendship between Roman and mason was very sweet, too. I appreciate that by only have mason’s pov, we were allowed a lot of his insights and got to know him really well, but it was to the detriment of getting to know Charlie more

I really really liked this. The hurt/comfort was the main part of the story, and I loved seeing Roman healing from his trauma. I’m a sucker for therapy, and his interactions with his therapist made me tear up. I will say, I’m not super familiar with dom/sub stuff, so the premise of people being born either dom or sub and needing each other to go into “subspace” or “domspace” to keep their hormones balanced or whatever - I didn’t know what the author was taking from real BDSM culture and what she was making up, so some of it felt kind of cheesy for me. But I can’t deny that I enjoyed the results of that premise

I loved these cute dumb dumbs. The way Marina vivancos writes characters and dialogue is fun and entertaining. I like her style of writing, and I always find myself smiling as I read her books. Beau is hilariously oblivious, almost to the point of being annoying, but I don’t think it crosses that threshold. I wish we had gotten more from Emilio, but what we did get from him I liked. I think the hockey rival trope isn’t my thing, and this one felt especially diluted. But all of the interactions between the MCs were gold.

Short, super sweet, smutty. I loved both MCs personalities. I smiled through this whole book. It’s amazing to me how some authors can make you love a character in so few pages
