There are some good takeaways in this book — such as the explanations on how anxiety can begin in the brain — but there is so much fluff, pointless repetition, and “you can do this!” messaging that I struggled to get through it. The content is still helpful, it just doesn’t need to be 200 pages. If you can find a spark notes version, that’s what I’d read instead.

It definitely has a lot of good information, and exercises to help manage different types anxiety. However, this is definitely not on entry-level book to the psychology of anxiety. I would be open to reading it versus listening to it via audiobook the second time around, that way I can participate fully into the activities.
And let’s be real… I’m not mature enough to not giggle whenever they said “PNS”
Yes. I’m a child.

I liked the tips they gave, but would have preferred overall a cliff’s note version of this.

For a novice who wanted to understand how anxiety is produced and how to manage it's various forms, I was completely satisfied. I listened to this on audio book. Each chapter contains a summary, which reinforced key issues. I will be using this as a reference tool for the future so I intend to buy a hard copy.
