I thought this was a pretty good ending, but it was weird that whole final climactic battle came so late in the book. It felt like everything was building up to something that took very little time to reconcile. But other than that, it was an enjoyable listen.

A good conclusion to the series (stronger than the second book). I've enjoyed spending time with the character Daisy, and her mixed community of supernatural/human beings, with plenty of humor, romance and adventure to go around!

Makes me want to go back and give Carey's older series another try (never did get in to Kushiel's Dart the first time around).

part of me is disappointed with this book, the whole law suit thing really annoyed me! I'm reading a book about a hellspawn, werewolf and ghoul ffs, I don't want to even think about court!
I'm satisfied with the ended I suppose, Cody was obviously the end game and j would have been annoyed if he wasn't. I don't think we needed a love triangle though, I didn't find Stefan very likable, he's a walking cliché imo.... I did really like Cooper though, he was very likable.
I wish the series had more oomph to it, daisy was very lucky throughout the series that she had a lot of friends to rely on. The seemed to do all the work! Nevertheless I enjoyed the books, the world Carey created is brilliant, I love reading all things supernatural and you can tell a lot of research went into it. I just needed less of hearing about Stefan's pupils and Gilmore Girls ( which I do love BTW, but her references to it needs to be toned down!)

Another great read in the Agent of Hel series by Jacqueline Carey. What I've loved about this series is that it still has the world building, the magic, the dynamic characters that her previous books have had but in a contemporary setting. Daisy works hard as Hel's liaison, watching over the human and paranormal elements of her town. But with something big simmering deeper than even she can see, can Daisy save not only the town but the people she loves? With her love life in shambles and war on the horizon, Daisy will need all of her strength and shields to not unleash hell on earth. Great read, really wish there was more in the series!

I've only given this series a three because I can't say they're nearly as deep or inventive as her Kushiel series (although I really liked the unusual take on ghouls.) That being said, I still found myself reading them when I should have been doing other things, and going back to the library to get the next one right away -- her characters are all very appealing and real, and she adds nice touches of humor in the midst of all the introspection and philosophical angst. (And I find that true in the Kushiel books as well.)

Rounding out the adventures of Daisy Johanssen we see her hunting a new predator with her coworker/love interest/friend Cody Fairfax that feeds on nightmares and can be deadly, as well as dealing with a lawsuit from an unknown adversary based on the events in the previous book. Not going to say much else as its book 3, but we do get to see her sort out her love life and fight against her very nature as a hellspawn, which she does all the time anyways because accepting her birthright means unleashing hell on earth, but it has other consequences as well.
I will say that she has 3 love interests across the course of this series and I actually liked all 3 of them and its never really a love tringle or square I guess in this case, which is also great. Daisy gets to be a bit much at times but as a hellspawn her emotions overload her but her self awareness about the problem keeps it from being too much and ruining my enjoyment.

I enjoyed this book, but I did find Daisy frustrating particularly towards the beginning. She just seems to decide to do something one way and then ignore any other solutions
SpoilerI know that she was trying to solve the problem with the night hag but could she not have told people how to defeat it if they did end up with it in their dreams rather than just telling everyone it would be fine and they would sort it. At least give them the knowledge of the hair thing so they can defend themselves if they need to. And yes they had a reasonable plan with the court case but there must have been more than one solution.
I also felt like Cody was keeping Daisy on the hook and it was really annoying that she kept going on about how much he liked her when he was emotionally screwing he over the whole time. But Daisy did get more sure of herself as the book went on.

I did feel like it wrapped up the series nicely, I would have liked a few more books but when I got to the end I had a feeling it might be the last one and looking at the other reviews it is.

This one wasn't as good as the first two. I mean the characters were good and the dialogue and plot and yadda yadda yadda but...It was too neat. Everything wrapped itself up in a nice little bow. Definitely not what I expected from JC. The book itself felt rushed and shoved along and it left me feeling rather "Meh" at the end. The first two books were way better and this does what it does but I expected more.

Re-read 10/2021... Still meh

Light easy to read. This one is best done after book 2 as it starts right off as the other one ended. A good wrap point made if this is end of the series with enough loops open for further ones.
