Great read! Love the combination of research and anecdote. Very thought provoking and challenging of conclusions regarding stress and health.

Too long of a book to make her point: stress-free is a mythological state and stress isn't as bad as our culture claims.

The title of this book is well meaning but misleading.

McGonigal isn't telling us that STRESS is good for us in all situations. She presents the idea that stress in and of itself can be beneficial or harmful but that depends on how we react and view the stress. Our mindset about stress and how we persevere are much more important than the stress itself.

Very well written. Lots of practical advice and stories. Will change how I look at stress in the future.

Phenomenal book! I would encourage everyone to read it and have added it to my students coursework on the psychology of stress management. It provides a refreshing mindset shift on how we look at stress in our personal lives and in society as a whole. She provides research that supports how stress can, and does, benefit us in many ways and practical activities that promote this shift in thought. Although it references many different research studies across the country it doesn't read like a research journal and is stimulating and surprising at times.

lots of data and amazing message
challenging emotional inspiring medium-paced

This book has a good, new message about stress. However, so many research studies are mentioned, that it becomes tedious. Also, so many examples are given from the lives of students, scholars and researchers - it doesn't seem very diverse.
challenging reflective medium-paced

This is the type of book I know will be helpful to me for the rest of my life. An excellent read and wonderful mindset for someone who gets stressed and anxious more than they’d like.
