I have begun using the cold exposure practice and the breathing exercise. Most of the rest of the book was interesting, but not necessary.

While I was skeptical at first that this could co-exist with my Christian beliefs, I do think it’s possible. Wim Hof does seem to idolize the “self,” saying things like “YOU are the king or queen. The universe exists in YOU,” etc., etc., I am reminded that “Yahweh” is actually a sound that we translated. God breathed into us life. Yah (in). Weh (out). He hasn’t tapped into anything that wasn’t always there.

In all, this was a great read. I appreciate that he stayed grounded in the science behind it and avoided the “hippy-ness” of it. After just a week or so of putting this method into practice (minus ice baths), I’ve definitely experienced the benefits.

If I were to recommend one book for health, wellbeing, peace of mind, spirituality (the true spirituality of the mind & soul, and not any dogma or set of rules), then this is the book I would get behind.
If you're here for the Wim Hof Method, then simple enough, you'll find it in a few pages of this book and you're done. If you want to read of the reasoning and scientific explanation behind the method, stay longer and you'll find out about that, too. If you want to then know more about the person behind it all, how he came to this method through a very unconventional life, then read the whole thing.
You don't have to stick with it all. The method is right there within the first 3 chapters, and that's less than 20% of the book. Take it and run with it, because it works. Don't just take my word for it (yes, I started practicing the method after reading about here, and I can feel it doing good things in my body. No matter if it is only the placebo effect - we all need something that can make us feel good and is legal and free and doesn't require anything but the body we already have) Don't just take Mr. Hof's word, either, because the results of his method have been scientifically investigated and proven to actually exist and deliver on many different types of people from all walks of life.
And then we get to the spirituality of it. Like Mr. Hoff himself says, he didn't find spirituality in dogma and rules and religion, even though he did go looking. He found it in the cold and the breath, in nature, and he maintains spirituality, of the soul and mind, is inside every one of us, and we just have to go deeper inside ourselves to find it. How? Again, cold and breath worked for him...and he's shown cold and breath can also work for the everyday layperson out there.
Believe him or not, it's up to you, really. But please, don't just diss. Give the method a chance (it's basically deep breathing and cold showers! It doesn't ask you to become an Iceperson like Mr. Hof) and see for yourself. Again, even if it's just the placebo effect, it can bring you peace and quiet and a sense of wellbeing. Who doesn't want more of that?

Whilst I am not a massive fan and a lot of what is covered doesn’t interest me or I have my own way of doing things there were 2 key things to take away.
1) cold showers make me feel good. Even if they don’t have all the long term benefits claimed the short term benefits make it worth it for me
2) I want to continue my effort of getting out in nature more

The method is very interesting, there is a lot of science around benefits of breath-work, meditation and cold exposure and I am also a fan of Wim, enjoying his videos, content and personality. Whilst the book certainly provides good insight into the method and a lot about his life, I found it reads a bit like the way he talks. Very fast, snappy, a bit all over the place and repetitive. I enjoyed learning more about him as a person and the development of the method. But I did find it quite repetitive and the writing style wasn't necessarily to my taste. The vast majority of the information regarding how to do the method can be found online, the main benefit of this book is learning his story.

I cannot comment on the method discovered by Wim Hof, I haven’t tried any of the exercises yet but this book is poorly written, edited and narrated. It’s incredibly repetitive and verges on being too hippified even for me! I wish it had been just a book of the actual method with the science to back it up and no waffle!

A very rambling style of writing, quite hard to follow at times ans very repetitive.
What I will take from it is the guidance which is helpfully displayed in grey boxes.

fascinating but dragged on a bit.
