This was a nice family story with a touch of magic and a heaping portion of Hallmark sayings.
When I'm having a rough day, I always reach for one of Heather Webber's books. Why? Because her books always feel like you're being wrapped in a warm blanket or having a nice chat with a friend and it was just the balm that I needed during the time I started reading it.
Like with all of Heather's books, I found the characters relatable and enjoyable, even those (like Susannah) who were annoying at first. Even with the feeling of "Oh my gosh, this woman is a piece of work!" there were still times when you couldn't help but smile. I liked getting to know the different people of Sugarberry Cove and getting a peek into their lives. I thought the story was very well written and heartwarming.
My husband looked at me when I finished and said that I looked sad. I explained that I always look sad after reading one of Heather's books because she has a way of writing that makes the characters feel like friends and I don't want to leave them behind. I always need a bit of time to recover, but I also want to jump right in to the next book. Great job, Heather!

This was a great first read of 2022. I really enjoy the magical aspects of Webber's novels, it reminds me of Alice Hoffman and Sarah Addison Allen, and adds to her story. While most of the book is based in reality, these hints of magic bring an extra layer to her novels. I also like how the novel focused on love but not always romantic love; the love that you have in a family is just as important as the love that you have with a partner. The ending was perfect, I don't want to spoil anything but it made the book go from 3 to 4 stars for me.
I love this book, and let's face it, I love Heather Webber's writing!
Sugarberry Cove is an idyllic close knit southern lake community that I would love to visit. We meet Sadie, who is back home after years away and hopes to be on the road again soon. We meet her sister Leala, who is struggling with the state of her marriage. As the sisters reunite to take care of their mother and the family B&B, the tensions are thick with past hurts. Local lore surrounding the Lady of the Lake draws the town together for the lantern festival each year, yet memories from a previous year have created a rift in the Scott family. They will have to open up and truly listen in order to heal together. Heather Webber once again proves herself a master storyteller, weaving in sparkly threads of magic throughout and keeping the reader entranced. I highly recommend this mesmerizing tale!!

I adore Heather Webber's books. However, this one was a bit slow for the first half, in my opinion. It eventually picked up and I enjoyed the story. The ending was amazing.
I CAN'T TALK ENOUGH ABOUT THIS BOOK!!! It's Amazing and Lovely and Definitely something I will read again. This most recent Heather Webber book is relatable, heartwarming and will leave you smiling. PLEASE take the time to read this book!!
*this book was sent to me by the author to give an honest review in return*
This was a good read. It's about a woman named Sadie who has been avoiding her family and home after she almost drowned in the lake and there is Leala who feels guilty about it. When their mother suffers a heart attack, they both return home to help where to start to grow their relationship and discover some magic. The author's writing was good but a little not for me. The beginning was a little hard to get into but once everything starts, the story gets a lot better. The pacing was a little slow for me but also it did work out for how short the novel was. I enjoyed the family theme and the whole reconnecting with home as it was a loving book with a little bit of magic realism. This is for sure one of those books that can be turned into a Hallmark movie as it gave off those vibes.
I enjoyed how the novel was written from both sister's PoV. Both Sadie and Leala had great character development and relationship growth throughout the novel. The side characters were also enjoyable and my favorite was Uncle Camp. He was such an amazing and kind person that helped Sadie. I wish there were more main side characters in the story but I enjoyed the ones we got. There is no romance in this book so it's perfect for those readers who like contemporary books without romance in it. Though I have to say I was a little disappointed with it as I'm a romance sucker.
The ending was well done with the book with great healing and growth. I do have to say I was a little worried about how magic realism was going to be played into this book but I LOVED it. I think it was well written into the book. I did have a few very minor problems with the book which was mostly the pacing and lack of romance. Overall the story was well written and I recommend this book to fans of Marissa Meyer and readers who enjoy women's contemporary fiction.

I've been a fan of Heather Blake Webber for some time. She writes wonderful cozies, paranormal cozies and these wonderful magical fiction novels. This is my second and will definitely not be my last.
I like the warm feelings the story evokes. The magical, mystical part is really mellow, it's there but not overwhelmingly so. Enough to believe and smile. The story is mostly family and relationships and those ties that bind and bring us home.
There are life lessons to be learned throughout. I would love to live in Sugarberry Cove and know the residents. I think my favorite character is Uncle Camp. He's steady, funny, warm, and a huge help around the bed and breakfast.
Even though I figured out the path that the book was meandering, it was a delightful journey. A wonderful escapism tale and I look forward to many more from Heather Webber.
I can definitely recommend this book and author.
