Here is a remarkable book. I have read many legal thrillers, but this is the first one where the thrilling experience is combined with the supernatural. The main character has a twist that adds to the unusual narrative. To bring in Biblical characters certainly piqued my interest. The novel was almost philosophical, filled with references from religious texts. The book will book your interest right from the prologue, and that's always a good sign. The MC is very engaging, thus making the story very enthralling. The legal aspects (the average mortal aspects) have been superbly portrayed. The focal point of the point were the trials. The thrill element was on point with the layered plot. While reading this, I was perplexed at some parts, as the characters seemed to have a backstory, so I searched and found that Almost Damned is a sequel to Almost Mortal. I finished the sequel first and then went for the prequel, but I recommend you read Almost Mortal first. It is not a given, but it will certainly help. My rating is five stars.
Almost Damned is the sequel to Almost Mortal but can be read as a standalone novel - for reference I haven't read Almost Mortal. The book follows Samson (Sam) Young, a defense attorney, as he argues a case on behalf of the descendants of Fallen Angels. What I liked most about this book was all the different genres it incorporates - it's a legal drama with suspense/thriller vibes as well as some fantasy and religious aspects. The premise is very unique and I think the author did a great job executing it. The book is fast paced and definitely kept me turning the page to find out what would happen next. One thing I will say is that there are a lot of characters and a couple with multiple names so it was confusing at times. Thankfully the author does include a reference of all the characters at the beginning of the book, which I found myself flipping back to frequently.
As you know me, I have a special corner for the thrillers, and this read “Almost Dammed” by “Christopher Liebig” is a treat for me with the perfect blend of legal thriller and supernatural and religious elements. This book is a sequel to “Almost Mortal “but it can be read as a standalone. The plot is based on the fallen angels and the origin of demons. The story revolves around attorney Samson young who is on the way to fight for the justice of a group of exiled angels. I find the theological glimpse of Dan Brown books in it. I do not talk much more about the story as it will be a spoiler. I enjoyed the legal proceeding narrates in this read. the detailed and skillful written plot shows the personal experience as an attorney and extensive knowledge of religious literature. Overall, for me, it is an entertaining read and recommended to thriller lovers.
This book is a sequel to “Almost Mortal" The story revolves around a public defender Samson young who is fighting for the justice of a group of exiled angels. The plot is based on the fallen angels and the origin of demons.
In this book criminal defence attorney Sam Young's old and new clients are interconnected, his old client has risen back from the dead.
These clients are the biblical Fallen Angels wandering the Earth as humans for centuries in search of peace.
The book is a legal thriller with suspense and is filled with fantasy. It was a thrilling read to me. I really enjoyed it and I absolutely would recommend it to thriller lovers.
Almost Damned is a sequel of award winning Almost Mortal, a legal thriller with supernatural elements (!!) written by a criminal defense lawyer!
After completing Almost Mortal, I couldn't wait to pick up Almost Damned. I thought it might be hard to top the first book but Wow! with an even more complex story line but easy to follow writing and more mysterious cases and clients who were not so alive as dead, this book definitely topped its prequel. Even though its part of a duology, it can be read as a stand alone but reading the first book will give you a deeper insight into the story.
The story connects with the first story as the clients are interlinked and because of that there were many characters. An old client rising from the dead, along with Sam getting death threats and mysterious invitations, it's a total thrill ride! Sam defends his mortal clients as well as immortals and fallen angels too, like how cool is that!
Pick up Almost Damned to see how well fallen angels and legal thrillers go along. The mystery aspect will keep you on the edge of the seat the whole time! Loved it.
This book will going to hook you! Setting the world at first and it will be intense from middle till you finish! Alot of court/law term for a mortal like me, have to use a dictionary about it. Still. little bit confuse with it but i got its thought. I hope there will be a next book! A lawyer, Mr. Samuel Young with a psychic ability, helping mortal/immortals and fallen angels for trials... hows that?! Fascinating! Well done Mr. Leibig!
This book was a good read. The plot was definitely unique where a lawyer called Sam had to fight cases that were somehow connected to each other. The novel is more of a supernatural concept than a thriller and there were way too many characters for me to understand but the good thing is that there was a list provided before so it wasn't that hard too. I liked the writing style and the courtroom dialogues were really nice too. I am a huge fan of courtroom drama so this is definitely one of the best dramas and the supernatural touch was quite exotic for me to see. The language was easy to read and the story was not stretched too much either. The speed of the novel is super fast and that was something that I kind of liked and kind of got me confused. The ending was something that really had me in shock, I loved how each character had nice development despite the fast-paced story. Overall this book was a nice read with a supernatural touch that made it quite unique and also the concept was different and it worth trying at least once.
A thriller that combines courtroom drama with supernatural and religious themes. Samson Young is a defense attorney with an uncanny ability to get even the so-called worst clients off the hook. But what he didn't know is that all his years of practice were preparing him for the biggest trial ever. Samson has to bring redemption to the biblical Fallen Angels who have been walking on earth as humans for centuries, unable to find peace including his loved ones.
