📖 This one was super creepy but so awesome. A killer with a real creative streak and an appetite for gruesome deaths and payback. As all Chris Carters Hunter & Garcia books this one had me hooked in early doors. I just love the blood and gore so beautifully described that you can practically smell the carnage. Their Captain Barbara Blake is definitely one of my favourite characters she is a no nonsense boss bitch. I also really enjoyed Alice Beaumont a new character that joined the team to help the guys solve the crimes her computer savvy hacking abilities help to speed things along. The sexual tension between her and Hunter too is something to savour and enjoy.
Narrated by Thomas Judd, as always he does a sensational job bringing the characters to life. Especially that of Robert Hunter he would make any woman swoon.
The killer is chopping up bodies left right and center to create these death sculptures. Expertly casting cryptic shadow puppet clues that the team has to try and solve before another body turns up. I really loved the story arc of this one I had many a guess of who I thought could be the murderer but as usual I was wrong. The true mark of a writing genius that you can never predict the ending of any of his books Carter always delivers. This one is no different.

I give this one an artfully gruesome 5 Lucy Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

📖 Well what a heart warming and funny thrill ride this book was. Such a great book about family and the hardships of being a single mother. Raising a family with no help from the useless no good for nothing baby daddy Cyril. He has fathered five children with four different women and loves his gold jeep more than he does his children.

I loved this book from the start. I really didn't know what to expect as it isn't a book I probably would have chosen to read, but I saw it on the book review show Between the Covers and popping up often on Bookstagram. It really was a joy to read. It has so much culture and life I know nothing of and I was transported into the family and felt as if I was on this rollercoaster ride with all 5 Pennington children.
The catastrophic event that brings all 5 of them back together as adults, after only meeting once as kids was so good. Dimples boyfriend is one of those guys you just love to hate, emotionally abusive and controlling a real treat.

The way Dimples siblings flock to her side in her hour of need filled me with such tenderness and love. This book is fresh and gives you all the feels as well as laughs along the way.
It is narrated by Danielle Vitalis and she is sensational. She gives each family member a real depth of character and brings each one to life in a different way. I would highly recommend giving the audio book version a try as it adds so much more to the already stimulating text. I think my favourite sibling had to be Nikisha she is so brash and takes no nonsense and is the oldest and therefore sees herself as the ringleader, she is just a force to be reckoned with.
Each sibling is so well crafted though it really is something special. I can't recommend it highly enough if you're looking for something new and fresh to read.

The Vacation by John Marrs

📖 This one hits the ground running. It had me from the start. John Marrs is the master of character development. He not only gives every individual character well rounded personalities but they all have heart, quirks and a whole lot of intrigue. In this book it seems everyone at the Venice Beach international hostel has a secret, or a tragic past or something they are running from. I loved each one individually for different reasons. But most intriguing and my favourite has to be Ruth. I used to make scrap books of boy bands I loved as a teen so that little detail made me smile. I also enjoy knitting but not quite as she does. And the enigma Dutch handy man Peyk who seems to know exactly what each person is going through and is always nearby to give out some cryptic but deep advice.

It is expertly read by Peter Noble the range of accents he does are impeccable. Irish, English, American and Australian and more. He gives each character their own personality and tone of voice and I very much enjoyed it all the more because of this.

The story lines criss cross throughout as the people within the hostel interact and it builds and builds to a finale that had me holding my breath. There are some truly shocking bits too that left me feeling like did that actually just happen?!!!. Marrs is a master of the thriller craft and this book does not disappoint. The last few hours of it honestly felt like I'd been 10 rounds in a boxing ring. The hits and twists  just keep on coming at you. Revelation after revelation, twisty turns like you won't guess are coming. It's no holiday or travel plan I'd ever want to get involved in. However idyllic the backdrop of Venice Beach maybe. That Hostel is nothing but trouble for most its inhabitants. Spectacular storytelling.

📖 I had seen a mixed bag of reviews for this book. So I went in very apprehensive but I was hooked straight away. I am very much in the loved it camp.
I did it all in one sitting I could not put it down or in my case press pause on it. Narrated by Vanessa Johansson and Amy Landon. Each brought a real personality to each character. I immediately liked Lowen she was very endearing and really makes you feel the daunting nature of the house. I would definitely be on edge with Verity after coming across her horrifying manuscript. I loved how selfish and psychopathic Verity's Manuscript was I lived for the chapters where Lowen would read more about the horror of her child resentment and worse. Jealous of her husbands love he felt for them and loving her less. Genius. I don't want to give too much away but the manuscript won't be like anything you have read. Truly chilling in parts. I loved all the salacious sex thrown in too. It was like a thriller meets erotica novel. I was so in love with Jeremy myself he is like the perfect man. Who loves his kids fiercely and will go to any lengths to protect them. It also doesn't hurt the fact that he is a skillful and generous lover in the bedroom too. Absolutely dreamy and steamy.

In Summary this book was excellent I give it a super steamy yet murderous 5 Lucy Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I loved the scandal of this one there is a suspicious death the group have had a hand in already and then another murder happens early doors. It is a bit slow going in the in-between bits at the beginning. I felt it was very much like a real housewives programme but they are soap stars of a soap style drama. I found it a bit hard to get into the rhythm of the day to day on a soap drama. But I soon got into it as I went along.

There's a foreboding threat from Melanie's husband who is suspicious of his wife's death. It took me a while to get to know the characters but once you have them all sussed it's great. Also I didn't realise that this is the sequel to the book Ruthless Women which I hadn't previously read. I got it through Net Galley as I liked the look of the cover and description. I will definitely be checking out Ruthless Women.

I think if I'd listened to it in larger chunks I'd have found it easier to follow. But once I got into the swing of it I was hooked in and wanted to know how it would all end for the characters of Falcon Bay and the women who are fighting to hold the show together.
Lots of sauce thrown in to keep you salivating, there are some really gorgeous and savage men in this book. Some have hearts of gold others would use you up and throw you out the next day. I loved it. It all bubbles and simmers to a mouth-dropping finale. A Live episode to end all episodes and it is one you won't want to miss.

This was a slow starter. I didn't immediately warm to either of the main characters. I found it didn't really get going until I was 50% in. It jumps back and forth in time to when Charlotte meets Sam and their lives on cruise ships begin, and then back to the present where he has gone missing and there is a threat towards Charlotte. I found I didn't much care for their antics and found all the cruise ship past a tad dull. There isn't enough drama and anticipation to keep me interested. Once Charlotte finally goes on a party cruise as a personal assistant with someone sending her threatening notes it starts to picks up the pace and I'm now invested in the story and want to keep reading.
I enjoyed the threat of the looming mysterious someone from her past that keeps tripping Charlotte up on and around the boat. But I feel I didn't much care for the party at large being self entitled rich folks. There is a decent enough twist and big reveal towards the end but it just didn't capture me sadly. Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to listen to it.

Seven days to save her son by Alex Lake

What an absolute cracker this book is. Maggie gets kidnapped early doors she's just a mere 15 years old. She is then held captive against her will and forced to have sex with her kidnapper. I mean if that wasn't bad enough, he then takes any children they have away at three years old. Max will be 3 in seven days. I felt so sorry for Maggie being forced to grow up so fast and deal with this burden of loss over and over. The man is sadistic and what he gets up to above ground is even worse but I don't want to give too much away. I very much enjoyed the narrative of Maggie and her stories of being held captive. But I also equally enjoyed finding out more about her kidnapper and what kind of monster he truly is. Great writing and it keeps you guessing. I also enjoyed the Detective Inspector Wynn's narrative, you are on the literal edge of the seat as she seems to get so close at times to catching the guy. The woman has good gut reactions and is a great judge of character.
I love to catch up with Maggie's family too to see how the loss of their daughter is hitting them hard. But promising to see them stick together as a unit as the years pass. They are on their own journey of torture in the years their daughter is missing. It builds and builds as the days tick by and leads to quite the sensational ending. I really did enjoy this a lot. Narrated really well by Laura Kirman her Max was truly heartbreaking at times embodying the voice of a toddler calling out for his mommy.

Strap in this book is not for the faint hearted. It is graphic, gruesome, shocking and down right awesome. I loved every minute of carnage this book contains. So many varying forms of torture and abuse from the killer and he seems to be untouchable. No DNA left and the body count rising rapidly. This book was a page turner for sure. Reminiscent of a Chris Carter novel for its gore and sadism in murders. I absolutely loved it. I had so many theories of who dunnit from the word go but it kept me doubting myself throughout. The tension builds and builds to the cinematic exciting conclusion as the police get closer and closer to the truth and to catch the killer responsible. I love learning a back story and history of a killer to find out exactly how they came to be such a monster and this book certainly doesn't disappoint for that. Some romance is thrown in for good measure and getting into the lives of the detectives on the case is great really gives them a human quality and builds character. All very well written. Some of the descriptions of torture and murder will make your skin crawl and stomach turn over. Truly dark and disturbing. I will be thinking of this book for some time and eagerly anticipate more books to come from Sam Holland.

Me: Elton John Official Autobiography by Elton John

I had always had Elton John on my radar, I loved his classic songs such as I'm Still Standing, Don't let the sun go down on me and Step into Christmas amongst many others. However it wasn't until Rocketman the Elton John Biopic hit the cinemas that I really fell in love with him and his music and story.

I knew nothing of his struggle with drugs and alcohol and his rocky relationships with his parents. I wanted to know more so finally got myself the audiobook loan through Borrow Box . It is read wonderfully by Taron Egerton and Elton John also reads a bit at the beginning and end. So lovely that Taron recorded it having played Elton in said film. I learnt so much about him as a person, he seems like a real genuine sweetheart and cares a lot for others and people he meets. He likes shopping as much as I do which made me smile how ever I have nowhere near his budget to spend. He has had many highs and plenty of lows and I enjoyed listening to it all. If you enjoyed watching Rocketman I think you would also enjoy hearing more about his past all the way up to the present day. I'd give it a a Rocketing 4 Lucy Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
29 Seconds by T.M. Logan

I've read a few of Logan's books and they don't often dissapoint. 29 Seconds is no different. I was hooked from the beginning. Poor Sarah she has been left by her husband with two young children to raise and on top of that has a lecherous boss to deal with. Then one day whilst rushing to fetch the kids from school she witnesses a child abduction and puts a stop to it. She then has an offer from the man whose daughter she saved that could solve all her problems.

I really enjoyed the narrative of this one following Sarah though the daily struggles of life and brushing off the advances of her sex pest boss. Things take many twists and turns and things don't always go to plan but the ride you take with her is certainly a rollercoaster one. I can't recommend this book highly enough if you have read and enjoyed some of T.M Logans books you will most definitely enjoy this one. You can't see or predict what is to come and the end is spectacular. Read wonderfully by Jane Slavin her voice really suited the character and was read very well indeed. I'd give it a large 4 Lucy Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
