Audiobook version. This is a wonderful book for a beginning meditator. Andy is funny and has a very interesting story. The biographical pieces of the book were most enjoyable for me. Also, the use of metaphor is stellar and provides for interesting visuals that artfully define the meditative experience. However, for me as a more experienced meditator, I found the book a bit slow and simplistic. If you are new to meditation and mindfulness practice, you will benefit more than I did from reading or listening to this book. Even better, I recommend downloading the Headspace app on your iPhone and going through the free "Take 10" meditation program. I think that is a more applied and practical way to learn meditation than going through this book.

O.K. companion to the Headspace app

Useful and with undeniable pearls of wisdom, but too padded and repetitious. Some of the analogies are clever and spot on; I do recommend the Headspace app.

Good stuff. Kind, non-rigid approach to meditation. Applied to daily life and focused on real-life benefits in the near-term.

4 Stars - I found this book both helpful and interesting. I came to the idea of wanting to incorporate mindfulness into my life gradually over the past 6 months. I read a book "10% Happier" by Dan Harris, and then tried a few apps on my iPad, then finally reading this book and watching some of the Headspace videos on youtube and also getting the free headspace app and completing the Take10 sessions. I can say after reading and doing all these things that this idea of mindfulness is not in any way a religious thing, even though it is sometimes called meditation. It does help calm the mind and body. I've found enough good in this that i'm going to continue for a few months and see if i continue to find it helpful.
