Super useful book. Has lots of practical advice and is based on a scientific approach. I have found it really useful.

This book is fantastic. The author writes in a very approachable style, and the content really helped me understand how the anxious brain works.

Am monk now

But in all seriousness, this book gave me so much relief and the ability to enjoy situations of which otherwise would’ve been stressful. Still antisocial as fuck tho :)

This book is informative, but VERY repetitive.
I took notes and found myself constantly writing the same thing over and over again, just told in a slightly different way.
Perhaps this was part of the technique, to help you remember, but it was a little much after a while.

Having said that, there was a lot of information that a lot of people would probably find helpful.

This is such an important book both for people who face debilitating anxiety and for educators who work with increasingly anxious students. The book is written in a very accessible, practical language with interspersed checklists to help a reader turn prose into reflection. The grounding in neuroscience is so important and helpful because it allows us to take a more medical and distances view to anxious feelings that often feel insurmountable. Such a helpful book that I will use with my students in the future.

There are some good takeaways in this book — such as the explanations on how anxiety can begin in the brain — but there is so much fluff, pointless repetition, and “you can do this!” messaging that I struggled to get through it. The content is still helpful, it just doesn’t need to be 200 pages. If you can find a spark notes version, that’s what I’d read instead.
